Paying the chargeYou need to pay the Dartford Crossing charge (Dart Charge) by midnight the day after you cross. If you do not pay the Dart Charge on time you might get a fine. Use this service to:

You can also pay for future crossings. You do not need to set up a Dart Charge account. Pay as you go Set up a Dart Charge account and add a payment card to it. Payment will automatically be taken from your card at midnight the day after you cross. Pre-pay Set up a Dart Charge account and add money to it. When you cross, payment will automatically be taken from the money you have available in your Dart Charge account. If you have a pre-pay account, you will get a discount of up to 20%. If you want to change whether your account is pre-pay or pay as you go, you will need to close your account and open a new one. Other ways to pay You can:

£25 a year to use the Dartford Crossing as many times as you want
£12.50 a year for 50 crossings
If you’re on the £12.50 plan and you run out of crossings you can either pay:
£6.25 for 25 additional crossings
£12.50 to upgrade to the £25 plan and get unlimited crossings
The total amount you pay in a year will not be more than £25. If you do not pay the annual fee, the local resident discount will be removed from your account. You’ll have to pay the one-off charge. You’ll need to provide a copy of your vehicle log book (V5C) and any 2 of the following documents to prove where you live:

You must provide your documents every 2 years to confirm your details are up to date. You’ll have to pay the one-off charge.Fines (Penalty Charge Notices)You can get a £70 fine if you do not pay the Dart Charge. reduced to £35 if you pay within 14 days
