Pandanustectorius je stálezelený strom s kmenem kolem 6 metrů, někdy až 10 metrů vysokým. Vytváří rozložitou korunu o průměru asi 5 až 12 metrů [4 ] a chůdovité kořeny, které zvyšují jeho stabilitu.
Pandanus is a genus of monocots with about 578 accepted species. [1 ] They are palm-like, dioecious trees and shrubs native to the Old World tropics and subtropics.
It contains 982 known species [2 ] in five genera, [3 ] of which the type genus, Pandanus, is the most important, with species like Pandanus amaryllifolius and karuka (Pandanus julianettii) being important sources of food.
The genus pandanus comprises some 600 species of Old World trees and shrubs of the family Pandanaceae. Much use is made of the leaves for thatching, baskets, and fiber products, and the fruits of several species are edible.
