The Corpus Inscriptionum Etruscarum (Body of Etruscan inscriptions) is a corpus of Etruscan texts, collected by Carl Pauli and his followers since 1885.
During his time at the university, he worked with the master sculptor Alberto Mainardi. After graduating in architecture, he learned from the ceramist Gabriella Zazzeri the Japanese Raku ware technique.
He was trained in Bologna, and married the painter Maria Oriana Galli da Bibbiena (1656–1749), daughter of Giovanni Maria of the Galli da Bibiena family.
