Marcinkevičius was born in 1930 in Važatkiemis, Prienai District. In 1954, he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of Vilnius University with a degree in Lithuanian language and literature.
1981-2014 m. vykusiuose 34 suvažiavimuose 137 referentai skaitė 195 paskaitas. Iš jų buvo 29 lietuviai išeiviai su 58 paskaitoms, 55 lietuviai iš Lietuvos su 62 paskaitomis ir 53 vokiečiai ar asmenys kitos tautybės su 75 paskaitomis.
In 1978, Nekrošius graduated from Lunacharsky Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow. After returning to Lithuania Nekrošius has been working in the Vilnius State Youth Theatre from 1978 until 1979.
