Ichikawa Danjūrō IX ( 九代目 市川 團十郎, Kudaime Ichikawa Danjūrō; 29 November 1838 – 13 September 1903) was one of the most successful and famous Kabuki actors of the Meiji period (1868–1912).

In 1969, he graduated from Nihon University, and took the name Ichikawa Ebizō X, acting in major roles such as the title character in Sukeroku and Togashi in Kanjinchō.
Under the name Ichikawa Kintarō, he debuted in 1881, at age eleven. He grew up to become Danjuro's best disciple. The young Kintaro was indiscreet and featured in many escapades, angering his master.
