Samuel Harvey Shapiro (born Israel Shapiro; April 25, 1907 – March 16, 1987) was an American politician, the 34th governor of Illinois, serving from 1968 to 1969.
Shapiro was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Jewish immigrant parents from Ukraine and Lithuania. He spent two years in the U.S. Navy and then attended the University of Pittsburgh on the G.I. bill.
