Hjördis Paulina Genberg (10 November 1919 – 24 December 1997) was a Swedish actress and model. She was the second wife of English actor and author David Niven.
Hjördis Genberg was the first Swedish super model. Besides modeling she acted in some shows and films. Hjördis Genberg was married to David Niven 1948-1983.
In 1960, Hjördis Niven penned a lengthy account of her pre-Niven days for a Swedish women's magazine. Despite her massive success as a model in the 1940s, she didn't exactly go on about it.
This site looks at the long and eventful life of Hjördis Genberg, later known as Hjördis Tersmeden and Hjördis Niven, the much-maligned second wife of debonair English actor and lady magnet David Niven.
In 1945, Hjördis Genberg was at the height of her success as a fashion model in Sweden, although the term used at the time for her profession was 'mannequin', which nowadays only applies to shop display dummies.
Hjördis' rise to celebrity status in Sweden can be traced through a series of beautifully coloured Vårt Hem magazine covers. Vårt Hem was Sweden's biggest and brightest family/women's weekly lifestyle publication.
