Gülşehir, formerly Aravissos and Arapsun, ancient Zoropassos (Ancient Greek: Ζωρόπασος), is a town in Nevşehir Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, in the vicinity of the Fairy Chimney valley of Göreme.
Gulsehir is arranged on the southern bank of the Red River (Kizilirmak) and in antiquated occasions it was designated “Zoropassos”. Afterward, during the Roman Empire the town was named as Arapsun.
When entering Gulsehir, you will be impressed with the imposing two floor church of St. Jean, which houses church, wine cellar, graves on the lower floor.
