Hayashi Fumiko was a Japanese novelist whose realistic stories deal with urban working-class life. Hayashi lived an unsettled life until 1916, when she went to Onomichi, where she stayed until graduation from high school in 1922.
Fumihiko Maki was a postwar Japanese architect who fused the lessons of Modernism with Japanese architectural traditions. His buildings can be seen around the world and he was a recipient of the Pritzger Prize.
