He was the first composer of an opera in the Islamic world. [2 ] [3 ] He composed the first oriental opera Leyli and Majnun in 1908 and since then he is revered for adapting the written masterpiece to the theatre. [4 ]
Manaf Suleymanov was born in 1912, in the village of Lahich in Azerbaijan. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute with honours and worked in the Azerbaijan Institute of Industry as an assistant professor.
Mehdigulu Khan Utsmiyev (Azerbaijani: Mehdiqulu xan Xasay xan oğlu Üsmiyev; 1855, Shusha – 1900, Tiflis) was a lyrical poet of Azerbaijan of Kumyk and Javanshir descent, a lieutenant colonel in the Imperial Russian Army.
