Born in Norfolk County, Massachusetts in 1929, to Therese Russell Brennan, a newspaper editor, and Francis Brennan, a chemical factory foreman, her early life was marked by economic hardship during the Great Depression. [1 ]
In 1996, Moynihan directed a joint project for the Archaeological Survey of India and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, and she edited the report published in 2000 as “The Moonlight Garden: New Discoveries at the Taj Mahal.”
She not only had an outsize role in New York and Washington politics as the wife of Daniel Patrick Moynihan; she also made a significant archaeological discovery in India.
