Charles Mason (25 April 1728 [1 ] – 25 October 1786) was an English surveyor and astronomer who best known for surveying the Mason–Dixon line with Jeremiah Dixon from 1763 to 1767.
Mason was appointed as the Woodwardian Professor of Geology in 1734, a position he held until 1762, [2 ] and he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1742. [1 ]
