Agnes Mowinckel (25 August 1875 – 1 April 1963) was a Norwegian actress and theatre director. Born in Bergen into a distinguished family, she became Norway's first professional stage director.

Johan Ernst Mowinckel (7 November 1860 – 23 March 1947) was a Norwegian merchant and politician from Bergen. He was the great grandson of Johan Ernst Mowinckel (1759–1816), and the brother of actress Agnes Mowinckel. [1 ]
Among others he was in the same class as activist Joakim Lehmkuhl and the conductor Johan Ludwig Mowinckel, Jr. [4 ] After middle school he enrolled in Bergen Technical School whence he graduated in ship engineering in 1916.
