Karin Larsson, née Bergöö, (3 October 1859 – 18 February 1928) was a Swedish artist and designer who collaborated with her husband, Carl Larsson, as well as being often depicted in his paintings.
Carl Olof Larsson ( Swedish pronunciation: [ˈkɑːɭ ˈlɑ̌ːʂɔn] ; 28 May 1853 – 22 January 1919) was a Swedish painter representative of the Arts and Crafts movement.
The artists Carl Larsson and Karin Bergöö Larsson lived here between the years 1889 and 1912. Since 1946, Lilla Hyttnäs has been managed by Carl and Karin Larsson's estate, as a historic home and museum.
Karin Bergöö was born in 1859 and grew up in Hallsberg where her father was a successful businessman. Karin’s artistic talent showed itself early and she began to study art at the Arts and Crafts School (Slöjdskolan) in Stockholm.
Karin’s father, AdolfBergöö, gave Lilla Hyttnäs to Carl and Karin in 1888. The couple transformed the tiny timbered cottage, which was built in 1837, into one of the world’s best-known artist’s residences.
